MariaChristina and Julian met on a winter night at a Christmas event in downtown Toronto when two friends introduced them for what was supposed to be a quick drink. Five years and a Positano proposal later, they married at The Arlington Estate in Vaughan with Antonangeli Design Group leading the planning and Royal Orchid Florist creating the florals. The entire day was inspired by the Amalfi Coast: think lemon groves, grapes cascading across the venue, and a sunlit yellow palette that made Ontario feel like Southern Italy.
The outdoor ceremony was set on a raised circular stage with a piazza-inspired layout. Royal Orchid Florist lined the walkway and platform with lush European-inspired blooms while live cello and violin set the tone. MariaChristina wore a custom Lee Grebenau mermaid gown from Powder Bride with a flower-trimmed veil. Julian wore an Italian-style tuxedo from Capo Salerno. The setting was intimate, elevated, and completely romantic.
The Arlington Estate was transformed with cobblestone-custom vinyl floors by Event Graffiti, clusters of green grapes, soft draped fabric, and European florals everywhere. Personalized Italian pasta bags waited for each guest in the foyer. The design was cohesive and bold, pulling from Positano without feeling like a theme party. It was romance and warmth and a lot of attention to detail.
As the evening shifted, MariaChristina added custom shoulder capes and floral gloves while Julian swapped his white bow tie for black. Fresh lemon gelato served out of real lemons hit the dance floor mid-party. But the real standout was the interactive tiramisu experience on the balcony: sparklers glowing, fireworks overhead, and the couple building their own tiramisu together instead of cutting a cake. By that point MariaChristina had changed into a sleek satin slip gown from Grace Loves Lace, the perfect look for an Italian night that ran late and loud. LIGHT UP THE NIGHT
One of the absolute highlights of the day was the interactive tiramisu cake experience, which MariaChristina and Julian describe as something they were “the very first to do.” Out on the balcony, with sparklers glowing beside them and fireworks bursting overhead, they built their own tiramisu together instead of simply cutting a cake—a moment that felt playful, unexpected, and completely “them,” kicking the night into high gear and making it fun, full of laughter, and totally unforgettable. By then, MariaChristina had slipped into a sleek satin slip gown from Grace Loves Lace, the perfect look for what she calls the ideal end to an epic Italian night.
