This season, the Spring 2017 Couture collections relied heavily on classic pastel and monochromatic palettes, and in the midst of the presentations, Georges Hobeika's colourful showing was a breath of fresh air. While the always-welcome shades of powder pink and dusty grey were present, bold pops of royal blue and sunshine yellow felt fresh and unexpected, and lend themselves perfectly to a bold wedding day colour scheme.

With the Academy Awards just around the corner, the arrival of Elie Saab's Spring 2017 Couture collection couldn't have been more perfectly timed. Featuring sophisticated silhouettes and strategically placed beading and embroideries, these gowns are meant to be worn by an Oscar nominee. Saab noted that the collection was inspired by Egypt, with vivid blue and glinting gold gowns referencing the tomb of King Tut, evil eyes discreetly embroidered in bodices, and a definite air of historical times embodied in every gown that was shown.
