Black Tie at Villa Erba, Lake Como
Lindsay and Michael paired an all-black guest dress code, luminous white florals, and a dark-red after-party with Villa Erba’s historic grandeur.

Villa Erba’s ornate rooms and lakefront architecture gave Lindsay and Michael’s black-tie wedding a cinematic sense of scale. The American couple leaned into the estate’s historic, slightly moody character, pairing an all-black guest dress code with touches of silver and clear white florals. Rather than soften the setting, the design used its frescoes, chandeliers, carved stone, and Lake Como views as part of one disciplined visual language.
The wedding moved from quiet preparations inside the villa to a ceremony in the waterside darsena. Sunset cocktails followed on the terrace, then dinner unfolded beneath chandeliers in the frescoed salons. After a seven-tier cake by the lake, the celebration shifted once more as the grand atrium became a dark-red late-night party. Each change of scene made the next feel more immersive, from open water and mountain views to the saturated colour of the final room.
Planning by Nicole Sparvieri events kept those contrasting settings connected through colour, atmosphere, and pace. The largest gestures remained grounded by personal details, including a charm with an image of the couple’s dog tucked into Lindsay’s bouquet of white tulips. The result was formal and dramatic, but never detached from the people at its centre.
Villa Erba’s Moody Lake Como Grandeur
Lindsay and Michael chose Villa Erba because its architecture already carried the depth they wanted for the day. Ornate interiors offered a strong backdrop for preparations, while the stone terraces, gardens, and waterfront opened the celebration toward Lake Como. The venue’s slightly moody character made the black and silver palette feel at home rather than imposed. Pale stone and white florals brought relief to the darker notes, allowing the setting to remain layered rather than severe. Moving between the villa and the lake also gave each chapter a distinct atmosphere without breaking the continuity of the setting.
White Tulips Along the Lakeside Darsena
The ceremony was staged in Villa Erba’s darsena, where the water and mountain horizon remained visible beyond the white floral setting. Arrangements traced the aisle and gathered at the focal point, bringing brightness to the lakeside architecture without closing off the view. The monochrome guest attire created a graphic frame around the aisle as the processional moved toward the water. Lindsay carried white tulips, and the small portrait charm of the couple’s dog added private meaning to the restrained bouquet. Her entrance toward the lake, followed by the first kiss among the flowers, brought the ceremony’s scale and intimacy into the same frame.
