A Heritage Love Letter At The Ritz-Carlton

Their two-day celebration, was a love letter to both of their heritages.

What Genie lovingly calls their “HinJew” celebration began, as the best love stories do, with a late-night conversation between strangers. Genie had just begun her medical residency in Connecticut when a trip to visit friends in New York led to a spontaneous decision — she downloaded Hinge with her location set to Williamsburg. Within days, she and Stuart (aka “Stuey”) matched, and what started as a late-night text conversation quickly turned into something undeniable. They met in person the very next day. “I knew on that first date that he was my husband,” Genie recalls. A year later, she transferred her residency to New York City, and not long after, Stuey proposed.

That day, Stuey told Genie they were headed to a menu tasting at a friend’s restaurant. Instead, he led her to a beautiful waterfront spot in their Greenpoint neighborhood — where he got down on one knee. An engagement photoshoot followed immediately, the two still catching their breath, before heading to dinner where both families were waiting to surprise them. “It was truly perfect,” she says.

Their two-day celebration, held August 8th and 9th, 2025, was a love letter to both of their heritages. The festivities began with a rehearsal dinner, followed by a Jewish Chuppah ceremony at Lee Restaurant, and continued the next day with a Hindu ceremony and full celebration at the RITZ-CARLTON TORONTO. Bold color, meaningful ritual, and joyful irreverence ran through every detail, and guests were invited to show up fully — outfits and all.

Genie wore a custom baby pink lehenga and Stuey wore a custom sherwani, both looks were by THE NEW DELHI COMPANY.

The reception at the RITZ-CARLTON TORONTO was a feast for the senses — vibrant florals, rich draping, and layered design by WILD THEORY FLORAL & EVENT DESIGN that reflected the spirit of Indian celebration while feeling entirely refined.
