Samantha Hui and Igor Vuckovic (featured in Issue 35 of WedLuxe Magazine, Canada), met completely by chance outside a cocktail bar. Their nights happened to overlap, and amid the sidewalk chatter, they struck up a conversation. It was one of those unexpected moments where two people were in the same place, unknowingly looking for each other. After dating for a year and a half, Igor planned an unforgettable proposal. For their anniversary, he told Samantha they were heading out for a special dinner, only to lead her instead to a downtown penthouse filled with pink roses, candlelight, framed photos of their relationship, and a dramatic pink heart arch. At the centre stood an oversized bouquet of roses, and in that moment, Igor got down on one knee and proposed with a 3.5-carat brilliant diamond ring.
On July 26, 2025, the couple celebrated their marriage at The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto, where a refined summer wedding unfolded within the hotel’s Promenade and Ballroom, with wedding planning by Petals and Pearls. Inspired by the couple’s travels through Tuscany, the day embraced a timeless palette of white florals, lush greenery, and candlelit elegance, translating old-world European romance into a modern ballroom setting. Floral design and décor by COCO by Covers Couture brought the vision to life with modern, sculptural arrangements and clean design.
The celebration thoughtfully honoured both families and cultures, beginning with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony before transitioning into Western wedding rituals and an elegant reception. With guests travelling from Asia, the United States, London, and across Europe, hospitality was a priority. The couple covered hotel accommodations at The Ritz-Carlton Toronto and welcomed loved ones with thoughtfully prepared welcome bags filled with wedding-day essentials and favourite treats. For younger guests arriving from afar, playful touches such as old-school Game Boys and Labubu toys added a lighthearted, memorable detail. Throughout the day, the couple’s daughter appeared in many heartfelt moments, bringing a warm, family-centred presence to the celebration.
WEDDING STYLE
For their traditional Chinese tea ceremony, Samantha wore a made-to-measure dress crafted by a traditional Hong Kong seamstress, featuring hand-woven lace and styled with jade earrings passed down from her mother. For the wedding ceremony, she changed into a white gown with a long train and intricate detailing, accessorised with diamond jewellery, including a diamond tennis bracelet she purchased to commemorate a major career milestone.
Igor wore a custom-fitted Canali tux from Harry Rosen. His heirloom cuff links were passed down from his father and completed his look along with a gold Rolex Datejust gifted during the tea ceremony.
UPON REFLECTION
In the ballroom of The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto, candlelit serpentine tables reflected the soft glow of more than 1,000 candles, creating a warm, immersive atmosphere throughout the space. COCO by Covers Couture provided floral design and décor and beautifully repurposed the dramatic X-shaped floral arch, originally used for the ceremony, as a sculptural focal point for the newlyweds’ sweetheart table.
TWO CULTURES, ONE LOVE
The wedding beautifully blended two cultures, honouring Igor’s Eastern European heritage alongside Samantha’s Chinese background. In addition to the traditional Chinese tea ceremony, Eastern European customs of communal singing and dancing brought joy, energy, and a strong sense of community to the celebration.
