When NHL star Zach Werenski – defenseman for the Columbus Blue Jackets and recent Team USA Gold medalist – married Odette Peters, the couple’s vision was clear: a day that felt elegant, personal, and enduringly timeless. After a record-breaking year on the ice, Zach’s next big win came off it – a luxury wedding at New Albany Country Club that beautifully reflected both his competitive spirit and their shared sense of style.
The couple turned to MMJ Events to bring their shared vision of “timeless elegance” to life – an aesthetic that would look as striking in fifty years as it does today. Set against the manicured lawns and stately architecture of the New Albany Country Club, the celebration unfolded beneath clear skies and soft light, a stroke of luck given the day’s unpredictable forecast. Guests gathered on the golf course lawn, where arched floral walls framed the ceremony and a world-class violinist serenaded the bride’s walk down the aisle. Odette, radiant in a Roma Sposa gown, epitomized modern fairy-tale grace.
Post-ceremony, the celebration moved up the grand staircase for cocktails overlooking the course. Every vignette – custom bars, engraved acrylic roses, and fluted escort displays – reflected a thoughtful continuity of design, echoing the couple’s invitation suite. The tented reception channeled warmth and grandeur in equal measure: oak chairs, banquettes, lush florals, candlelight, and a bespoke chandelier installation that illuminated a circular bar anchoring the space. For dessert, guests delighted in Beau’s Bakery, a whimsical homage to the couple’s golden doodle, before the night crescendoed with a live hometown band, Jet’s Pizza late-night bites, and a checkered dance floor beneath a glowing “The Werenski’s” sign.
Every detail was intentionally personal yet timeless – a wedding that felt both of the moment and enduring, much like the couple themselves.
