Fall / Winter 2024 Wedding Trends: It's Giving COLOR!

In the vibrant world of weddings, the fusion of pop culture trends and couture runway collections is redefining bridal and event aesthetics like never before. As we look ahead to the rest of 2024, our editor-in-chief and creative director, Angela Desveaux, has meticulously curated her semi-annual roundup of the season’s color trends, drawing inspiration from the dazzling realms of high fashion and mainstream media’s most talked-about moments. So, what’s on her radar? Take a peek below at the top trend hues of the moment and enter your very own color era when it comes to your wedding!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’d know that one of the most epic (read: expensive!) weddings in the world kicked off recently in India with the global star-studded ‘pre-wedding’ celebration of Anant Ambani to Radhika Merchant. (Ambani is the son of the richest man in India, billionaire Mukesh Ambani, 66, who has a net worth of $117.8bn).

Based on the WOW-inducing pre-wedding party we can’t wait until mid-July to see the actual wedding day! Colour-wise, we’re inspired by the peach-meets-copper-hued Valentino gown that Radhika wore (the dress was a dead ringer for Blake Lively’s 2022 Met Gala gown) but all things orange are bringing zest right now! Orange burst onto the scene as a prominent color in many collections during New York Fashion Week. Cue Naeem Khan RTW 2024 as a great example – the runway was even decorated with two oversized (orange!) marigold floral towers. Khan, one of India’s most acclaimed fashion designers aptly named the collection “TO INDIA MY LOVE.” (In Indian culture, orange holds a special significance, especially in weddings, symbolizing joy, warmth, and prosperity.) We also saw dynamic ombre orange sequins at Pamella Roland S/S24 as the softer sister to orange, peachy pastels are also having their moment.

Raise your hand if you’ve seen “Feud: Capote vs. the Swans” yet. (The styling alone is enough to make this tv series binge-worthy!) The third episode gives us a glimpse of what it would have been like at Truman Capote’s famed Black and White Ball, a glittering social event that’s still referred to as “the party of the century.” The masked ball, which took place at New York’s Plaza Hotel on Nov. 28, 1966, was the most glamorous (and coveted) invite of the year.

Coveted this year? A 60s redux! Not only is black and white fashion showing up everywhere but break out your long white gloves and cue bold black and white stripes! Nobody showed us how to rock stripes more elegantly than Carolina Herrera FW24 – her newest collection is a tribute to the kind of black and white elegance (with pops of cherry red, canary yellow, and forever pink) that even Truman Capote would approve of.

If we could live inside the Giorgio Armani Privé Spring Summer 2024 Couture collection, we would. Ethereal, pale pistachio and soft peachy pink tones sparkled with East meets West design influence, sheer lace, and liquid-like fabrics. The collection was magical. But, we’re also seeing pistachio, mint, and peach hues emerging in collections from all of our favorite designers right now, along with delicate floral patterns paired with sheer fabrics. This trend is also dubbed “The Soft Spring Aesthetic” and we’re envisioning how beautiful it would be translated into wedding day inspiration.

According to Pinterest Predicts searches for “Coffee bar styling” are up by +1,125%! In their words, “Bar carts, be gone. In 2024, at-home coffee stations will become the new way to espresso yourself. Boomers and Gen X will bring the coffee shop vibe inside, searching for everything from “cafe chalkboard” aesthetic and “coffee station decor” to “coffee bar styling.”

With all of that deliciousness brewing, we say it’s time to percolate wedding day inspiration in shades of creamy and delicious mocha, cappuccino, and espresso.

P.S.: Wouldn’t it be fun to style a Café Core bridal shower? Hint, hint!

The 2024 Met Gala will celebrate the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and the official dress code is “The Garden of Time.” Drawing from over 400 years of fashion history, the pieces will include designs by legendary designers such as Schiaparelli, Dior, Givenchy, and more. Three main “zones”—Land, Sea, and Sky—will be an ode to nature. In other words, cue maximalist blooming of garden floral patterns, whimsical motifs (think winged creatures, underwater urchins, a range of eras from English Elizabethan onward), and lots of dreamy, vibrant color!

As early as two years ago, we were shouting to doubters that Barbiecore would be a thing (so we styled an entire event installation around the theme at our 2023 WedLuxe Wedding Show) but its recent Oscar-winning moments proved we were onto something! For 2024 and beyond, from Rodarté to Prada (and nearly every couture collection in between), pink is still *and apparently will always* be having a MAJOR moment and we’re not mad about it. We are forever obsessed! Also <still!> having their moment are all things feminine and whimsical when it comes to embellishments – fringes, ribbons, feathers, and sequins. The beautiful bow phenomenon is still “tied” to multiple collections, but this season it’s all about layering of multiple smaller bows for the ultimate love knot. Think pink and green, pink and yellow, or pink and turquoise for fresh contrast.

Couples goals were redefined on the 2024 Oscars Red Carpet with Emily Blunt and John Krasinski’s creme de la creme matching ensembles. From Elie Saab to Oscar de La Renta, we’re seeing liquid silver and luminescent cream-hued neutrals continue to play big (shiny!) roles in Spring 2024 and Fall 2024 collections. We are obsessed with the idea of blending sequined or liquid-like silver with flat warm grey, contrasted with silky cream-on-cream for wedding sophistication with sparkle!

In late February, The heritage British brand Burberry drew crowds to an Olympic-sized tent to close out London Fashion Week. The runway had the aura of an enchanted forest with a mossy grass floor and dimmed lights setting the scene for the Winter Autumn 2024 collection.

Burberry’s creative director, Daniel Lee, drew inspiration from England’s pastoral landscapes and its people and stated in his show notes that the collection should conjure “a feeling of warmth, protection and outdoorsy elegance.”

Pair this earthy color with pops of coral, and muted natural textures like cane or rattan.

Whether it’s called Merlot, burgundy, black cherry, or oxblood, trust us when we say that this rich, deep hue will reign supreme in 2024 because it’s been popping up on couture runways to red carpets. We LOVE this color paired with sky blue for a double dose of trending hues!
