Calgary-based wedding planner Madeleine first connected with her sweetheart Kyle via Bumble. Six months later, they were falling in love on a two-week-long road trip through Portugal. Two years later, Kyle’s plan to propose in the Loire Valley region of France in June 2020 was rerouted to the couple’s own “backyard” on a picnic at Barrier Lake with close friends en route to a couples’ staycation at Pomeroy Kananaskis Lodge. He presented Madeleine with her dream ring — a solitaire round diamond set in white gold — and of course, she said, “Yes!”
Madeleine and Kyle knew they wanted to celebrate their nuptials where they truly fell in love, so they planned an immersive wedding weekend for 50 guests in Sintra, Portugal. The festivities kicked off with a rehearsal dinner and boating excursion the next day, sailing along the same coastline that the couple had driven on their road trip. The romantic, Old World-inspired wedding took place by a secluded fountain on the grounds of Penha Longa Resort. It was followed by a garden cocktail hour, an elegant dinner reception, and dancing under the stars.
