Teresa first met Anthony in high school. She was friends with his cousin and sister, and he was friends with her older brother. “We were always in each other’s orbit, running into each other over the years in the unlikeliest of places, but our timing was never right, until it was,” says Teresa. While home from England on spring break of her final year of law school, she met Anthony for coffee — they’ve been inseparable ever since!
For Teresa, December 2020 marked the end of a year spent in preparation for her bar exam; for Anthony, it was time to propose, and he set the date for the nineteenth. When Teresa received her exam results unexpectedly early on the fourteenth (spoiler alert: she passed!), it was perfect timing for a celebratory dinner covering up the proposal. They ordered the chef’s tasting menu and wine pairing at a winery in Niagara, then enjoyed the crisp air and holiday lights on a walk around Niagara-on-the-Lake. “Anthony stopped me in front of an old but beautiful courthouse, and expressed how proud he was of my achievements and being a part of my journey,” shares Teresa. Then, on one knee, he asked the question! “It was my easiest yes,” she says.
“I used to tell his cousin — one of my oldest childhood friends — that I would end up married to Anthony,” remembers Teresa. “And here we are.”
Teresa married Anthony on June 18, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Hamilton, Ontario. The ceremony was followed by a reception at LiUNA Station. Teresa worked closely with her mother to plan the wedding, using the words “opulent” and “romantic” to guide the design inspiration. “Leading up to the wedding, planning, creating and designing alongside my mom was a very special time for me,” Teresa reminisces. Teresa tried on nearly 80 dresses, but nothing seemed “enough.” Thus, Teresa’s “Bridal Bible” was created! She and her mom began collecting photos of the dresses she had tried on and they sat down with Kim Ironmonger of Valencienne Bridal to piece together Teresa’s custom bridal ballgown.
