The WedLuxe Show Returns: Integrating AI Technology into Event Design

The WedLuxe Show recently made its exciting (and gorgeous!) return to Toronto, Canada, at Hotel X Toronto, after a three-year (uninvited!) hiatus. Remaining true to its trendsetting history, The 2023 WedLuxe Show was one of the world’s first live events to integrate AI technology into the event’s design.
Angela Desveaux, founder, CEO, and creative director of WedLuxe, shares what inspired the use of AI technology for this year’s show.
“Since the inception of our first show in 2012, and long before ‘immersive and experiential’ were part of everyday vocabulary, The WedLuxe Show has been recognized for its ingenuity and the integration of design trends from outside the world of weddings into a large-scale, luxury consumer-meets-industry event format. For instance, over a decade ago, when we created The WedLuxe Gift Bar (offering a COMPLIMENTARY retail-like shopping experience for nearly two thousand guests!), the concept was UNHEARD of, as were our “restaurant-like” pop-up experiences, completely branded by our editorial design team.
Ultimately, our unique recipe for success is rooted in creative collaboration between the graphic design division of WedLuxe and our incredibly talented roster of event sponsors who come together to bring each experiential space to life.
AI TECHNOLOGY x #BARBIECORE
Having survived three long (bleak) years, my team and I wanted to bring The WedLuxe Show BACK with fresh, notable style and do something unique. I’m currently in awe (and obsessed!) with AI technology and what it could mean for the future of event design. Therefore, it was paramount for me that The WedLuxe Show be one of the VERY FIRST live events worldwide (specifically within the wedding industry) to integrate AI technology. I’m also obsessed with the pretty-in-pink #Barbiecore trend that is everywhere right now, from fashion to interiors.
With both trends in mind, I dreamt up the concept for a WedLuxe #Barbiecore Bakery.
HOW WAS IT DONE?
THE WEDLUXE #BARBIECORE BAKERY
The 22ft x 22ft bakery structure was plotted out and built by DFD Event Solutions featuring printed graphics I generated with A.I. using Midjourney. Then, I stitched together and customized the A.I.-generated images to fit the structure using Photoshop and other programs. Our bakery event planning and design partner, DIANA PIRES EVENTS, took it from there, adding her signature attention to detail with the bakery’s planning, interior design, flow, and logistics, including coordination with our catering partner, The Food Dudes , on what the bakery served-up! Think all-pink desserts, including the yummy pink ice-cream sandwiches that were a crowd fav! An extraordinary 12-foot-tall 3D (foam) cake sculpture with an oversized bow, designed and produced by the sculptural decor engineers from Engineered Arts , provided the WOW moment for the center of the space. Finally, CAPRICE DECOR provided exquisite pink floral installations to bring the entire thing together. It was a fun and unique collaboration for all.”

, who provided space planning and design, The Grand Entry was designed with Pantone’s newest hit hue, “Viva Magenta,” in mind. The floral design team at INFINITUDE DESIGN brought the graphics pattern to life by creating three magnificent floral arches integrating thousands of magenta-hued peonies, roses, and foliage.

THE GIFTING GARDEN
Our signature gift bar returned as The WedLuxe Gifting Garden. The colorful floral patterns of the Gucci Home textiles collection and the Gucci Garden experiential retail concept inspired the graphics and design of this space. All gift items were sourced and managed by the WedLuxe team. PETALS & PEARLS provided Space Planning and Design, and Henna Florist created the dreamy garden florals. GET SERVED GTA provided our friendly gift bar staff. The beautifully curved back bar shelves were provided by LUXURY EVENT DECOR, and our bar was created with rentals from Detailz Couture Event Rentals . Our in-house WedLuxe design team created all graphics for this space. The photo opp structure & printed decor (window decals, signage, bar decals, mirror flooring) were created and installed by DFD Event Solutions .

THE WEDLUXE RUNWAY
The WedLuxe Runway (known as a show within the show!) also returned to the event in high style. Valentino’s “P.P. Pink” inspired the eye-popping pink elements within the space. Held in the ultra-modern, all-glass structure of New Fort Hall (located on the main level of Hotel X Toronto), space design and planning for The WedLuxe Runway was provided by LA CHIC SOIRÉE with furniture rentals from Detailz Couture Event Rentals .
Valentino’s “P.P. Pink inspired the eye-popping pink elements within the space. DFD Event Solutions provided the vinyl runway carpet and backdrop center panel with 3D structural side panels designed and installed by Engineered Arts .
