A Great Gatsby-Inspired Wedding

Paige and Matthew have been inseparable since 2014 when they were first introduced by a mutual friend at Western University. “We clicked immediately and shared many laughs and jokes! It truly was love at first sight!” remembers Paige.

Four years later, Matthew surprised Paige with a getaway to New York City to coincide with Christmastime – her favourite holiday! On the night of their engagement, Matthew had arranged for the couple to enjoy a romantic skating session at Rockefeller Center. After the skate, (and right on cue!) the ice cleared and an employee volunteered to take the couple’s photo in front of the iconic Christmas tree. At that moment, with the entire rink to themselves, the couple’s favourite song began to play over the speakers. Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight” provided the soundtrack to Matthew’s proposal. With thousands of people watching, Paige said, “Yes!” and the crowd erupted in cheers. Later that evening, the couple celebrated their engagement with friends at Paige’s favourite restaurant. “Matt truly planned the perfect proposal weekend,” shares Paige.

Paige and Matthew were married at The Omni King Edward Hotel in Toronto.

Paige wore two Pronovias gowns from The Modern Bride. The first was worn during the ceremony and featured an asymmetrical bodice, and the second was a long-sleeve mermaid-style gown. Hair styling and makeup application were provided by Fancy Face Inc. The bridesmaids wore gowns from Lulus.

The couple was married in the Crystal Ballroom underneath a ten-foot acrylic canopy adorned with white florals and twinkling lights designed by R5 Event Design.

The canopy covered with florals and fairy lights was magnificent. Beyond anything we imagined.

Grace Song Calligraphy designed the oversized seating chart directly on the large mirror installed in the foyer of the venue’s event space.
The Crystal Ballroom was quickly transformed for the reception. The wedding’s black, white, and gold color palette was created around the bride’s vision of a Great Gatsby-themed evening. At the centre of the ballroom was a striking black, white, and gold patterned dance floor that complemented the event decor. Full-service floral and decor design, rentals, and draping were all provided by R5 Event Design. Custom black velvet linens and napkins were provided by Linen Closet.
The completed venue set-up literally took my breath away!
