Mursal and Luis met at a mutual friend’s party, where Luis spent the entire evening talking to Mursal. “He was so sweet and charming!” she recalls. She gave him her phone number, and the two have spoken every day since!
After graduating from university, the couple toured Italy together. Luis had planned to propose while the two took a gondola ride in Venice, but fearing nausea Mursal thought better of setting out on the water. Instead, the proposal took place in Florence in the center of the Piazza Della Repubblica. While a nearby couple took Mursal and Luis’ photo, Luis got down on one knee and onlookers clapped in celebration!
Petals & Pearls planned and designed the couple’s intimate wedding held on August 21, 2021, at a private mansion in Toronto, Ontario. The event was planned in less than two months.
“Luis and I waited for a year for the pandemic to pass, but it didn’t and we wanted to start our lives together,” shares Mursal. “We decided to go out on a whim and just plan something small and intimate. However, I love decor, design and going all out!”
Eventually, the wedding came together beautifully and was designed around a “European manor” theme as a nod to Mursal and Luis’ engagement in Italy.

Mursal’s wedding gown by Berta was purchased in the USA. It was only after purchasing the gown that Mursal realized she had previously saved an image of the exact dress to her wedding Pinterest board! Luis and his groomsmen all wore suits from Harry Rosen.
A hand-drawn illustration of the wedding venue was gifted to the couple by Luis’ brother.
On the morning of their wedding day, the couple held a cultural and traditional ceremony with immediate family members, followed by a second outdoor ceremony for guests in the early evening.
Mursal’s mother’s best friend officiated the wedding, making it all the more meaningful for the couple. COCO by Covers Couture provided the floral designs for the wedding and worked alongside Petals & Pearls to dream up a whimsical outdoor ceremony which featured a ceremony floral arch designed to mirror the venue’s architecture. Violinist Sofia Spilberg provided live musical entertainment.
The acrylic seating chart and name cards were created by Miss Paper Cut.
The head table featured an asymmetrical floral arrangement by COCO by Covers Couture which ended up being Mursal’s favourite design aspect of the entire wedding day. “I wanted something unique and luxurious,” she shares. “The florist really took my inspiration and made it come to life.”
The reception was originally planned to take place in the mansion’s backyard in order to adhere to Ontario’s Covid-19 event restrictions. However, just two weeks prior to the wedding, indoor weddings were allowed by the province so the entire decor and design were changed to better suit the indoor aesthetic of the mansion. “It was absolutely beautiful,” recalls Mursal.
The dance floor design was created by Petals & Pearls, then produced and installed by Wrap in The 6.
