Manelli first received a message from Ross via Instagram DM in October 2015. His work colleague, who happened to be a family friend of Manelli’s, was encouraging him to settle down and insisted that Manelli would be the girl of his dream — and needless to say, she was right! The couple spent three months exchanging texts and phone calls long-distance as Manelli lived in Montreal and Ross in Toronto. They finally met for their first date in January 2016 while Manelli was visiting family in Toronto. “I phoned everyone I knew that night and told them I just had my first date with my husband,” says Manelli.
In December 2019, the couple travelled to Tulum, Mexico. They’re notorious for travelling together, which has kept Manelli looking for clues to a proposal! When there were no signals raised at the security check on their way to Tulum however, she put the idea aside. One evening on their vacation, the couple planned to take sunset photos on the beach, but seeing that there was no surprise set-up, Manelli again set aside her hopes for a proposal. “Little did I know Ross had a ring in his pocket but kept choking on his words and was buying time,” shares Manelli. “Finally I saw the tears in his eyes and he could barely speak, and that’s when I knew what was happening!” Ross got down on one knee and Manelli met him there — right when a photographer appeared to capture the moment!
Manelli and Ross held their boho-chic wedding in September of 2019 in Los Cabos, overlooking gorgeous views of the bay. The pièce de résistance of the ceremony was a free-form floral arch full of natural elements like pampas grass with a touch of drama. “We wanted to make everyone feel [like] they just walked into a magical setting where the flowers and ocean met the sky,” shares Manelli.
