It was early 2018 when Alexandra and Joseph first met at the gym. They had mutual friends in common and struck up several conversations while working out. “Two of my best friends, who I worked out with often, knew Joe through their older brothers. He would always come by and say hi whenever he saw them. We had a few conversations over our love of carbs while working out, which lead to an Instagram following, which then led to an exchange of numbers, which led to a first date at Pizzeria Defina (for carbs, obviously!) The rest is history,” shares Alexandra.

In November of 2019, Joe invited Alexandra to a Toronto Maple Leaf’s game, something the couple often did so it didn’t raise any suspicions on Alexandra’s part. “He told me we were meeting his lawyer and his wife downtown for dinner beforehand, so to dress accordingly.” Joseph also said they would take an Uber since his lawyer had great taste in wine and they’d likely drink a few glasses. As Alexandra arrived at Joseph’s house she realized something wasn’t adding up. “As I walked in, all the lights went off and all I could see was the glow of candles. I made my way up the stairs to find Joe in his family room surrounded by flower arrangements and candles. Of course, at that moment I knew what was happening and I could not believe he pulled off such an elaborate scheme. He had arranged for all of our family and friends to come over that same night and celebrate with us. It was absolutely perfect.”

The couple tied the knot on August 27, 2021. Renata De Thomasis-Rollins of RDT Events + Beauty was hired to provide full-service planning and design assistance. The design theme of the wedding was “Bohemian Desert.”

The ceremony and reception were both held at Copper Creek Golf Club in individual open-air tents provided by PREMIER EVENT TENT RENTALS Premier Event Tent Rentals Inc. is a trusted provider of tent rental services in Toronto,... More | Message .

WILD THEORY FLORAL & EVENT DESIGN created a romantic bouquet guided by the colour of Alexandra’s bridal gown.

With Covid-19 restrictions, the couple knew they wanted an outdoor wedding. “Our biggest priority was making sure we would safely be able to have the people we love in attendance. We couldn’t imagine our wedding day without certain people, so the priority was making a space that could accommodate those who meant the most to us,” shares Alexandra.

“The arch that was built around our table was my favourite design detail. I think that piece stopped everyone in their tracks. As soon as you walked into the tent your attention was drawn to it. From the florals to the size itself, it was stunning.” – Alexandra, BRIDE

The tablescapes were collaboratively designed by RDT Events + Beauty  and WILD THEORY FLORAL & EVENT DESIGN to evoke the quiet elegance of European design. Part nature-inspired, part airy minimalism. This was achieved by using tone-on-tone neutrals; ceramic dinnerware paired with copper flatware and crystal cut glassware.
Nude-toned draping installed by Eventure also added a sense of warmth to the space. Various textures of stone, ceramic and wooden elements all came together to bring the “Bohemian Desert” vibe to life.

Edison bulb string lights installed by Sole Power Productions were used to create a fun ambiance for the dancing tent; while dimly-lit wooden chandeliers set the tone for the reception tent.
