A Sophisticated Backyard Wedding with White and Blush Florals
Brittany and Ethan grew up within five minutes of each other, but their paths didn’t cross until 2012 when they met at a mutual friend’s birthday party in Waterloo, Ontario. At the time, they were both in their first year of studies at Wilfrid Laurier University.
Ethan popped the question in his parents’ basement where the pair were living at the time. He was wearing a t-shirt that had ‘boyfriend’ crossed out with ‘fiancé’ written underneath when he got down on one knee. He also bought one for Brittany with ‘girlfriend’ crossed out to say ‘fiancée’.
“We had her with us through the entire process over a period of 3.5 years. She was super accommodating when we changed plans for our venue from Four Seasons Hotel Toronto to my parents’ backyard,” notes the bride.

The bride’s parents’ backyard was the perfect setting for a tented ceremony led by Rabbi Adam Cutler. The couple used kiddush cups that had belonged to their late grandparents as a special tribute. Although the ceremony was traditionally Jewish, the couple personalized it in their own way. “We held hands almost the entire time and faced each other which isn’t traditional but was super special,” shares Brittany.
In only one hour (talk about an epic flip!), the ceremony tent was completely transformed into a dreamy reception space by the team at

. Cocktail Hour kept guests busy with plentiful choices, particularly with the wine selection (Brittany’s father and brother started Inventory Wines (a wine collecting app) resulting in an extensive list of wines for guests to choose from). Specialty cocktails were also on offer including the bride’s favorite “French Martini.”
"We made sure to think of many details including black satin face masks for every guest and personalized peppermint hand sanitizer. Other details to ensure comfort included a blanket for every guest in case they were cold, as well as slides for when guests' feet hurt from dancing!" –Brittany, BRIDE
