Growing up with several of the same friends, Julia and Giancarlo had known each other for many years, but their relationship was never more than a casual conversation until 2017. “Several years had passed and we had not seen each other around for a while,” remembers Julia. “Giancarlo sent me a message on Instagram. We spent the entire night texting and arranged to go for dinner. Our first date was special, he was different in all the best ways. The rest is history, we’ve been inseparable ever since.”
The couple were engaged at Casa Loma in June of 2019. Knowing Julia would be suspicious of any overtly romantic gesture, Giancarlo asked Julia’s dad to setup a “Father’s Day dinner” ruse at Casa Loma. Strategically, he had their driver drop them off on the far side of the property, so they’d have to walk across the entire castle lawn to get to dinner. “As we crossed the middle of the castle, he turned around catching me completely off guard, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. He had also arranged a photographer to capture it all,” shares Julia. The newly-engaged couple then enjoyed an intimate celebratory dinner with their parents and siblings.

was commissioned to provide full-service planning and design assistance for the couple’s wedding. A timeless, yet modern twist on an all-white wedding was requested and delivered! Using Julia’s favourite flowers, roses, and peonies, the result was a “monochromatic vibe that felt unique and impactful.”
After two years of planning, (and three ‘new’ dates), the wedding was once again upended with only two weeks’ notice due to Covid-19 restrictions! While decor elements of the wedding were planned in advance, the venue changed entirely, a tent was sourced, a new caterer and menu were implemented, and the guest list was tapered from 300 to 50. “Michelle made our day come together perfectly and didn’t sacrifice a single aspect of our original plan,” shares the bride.

Inspired by contemporary California architecture, the custom ceremony design featured a row of squared arches that supported a modern take on a floral chandelier. A chrome aisle runner was then lined with thousands of white roses and peonies placed in elongated hedge boxes. Acrylic risers filled with roses and peonies created a ceremony focal point where the couple exchanged vows. An outdoor Catholic ceremony was performed by Father Mike, a lifelong friend of the bride’s family. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the original guest list was tapered down from 300 to 50 people and moved to an outdoor tent by

A reveal wall welcomed guests into the all-white dining oasis. Once opened, guests were greeted with a “sky” full of roses! Designed with thousands of white roses and peonies, the monochromatic design included over 9000 “floating” roses (which took a full week to install!) canopied over the guest tables and dance floor. The couple had their first dance on a chrome-covered multi-level dance floor. “The reflection of the roses was spectacular!,” notes event planner Michelle Cundari.
The ceremony tent was later converted into a chic, modern lounge for cocktail hour and a late-night cigar and scotch lounge.
