Angela and Michael grew up in Wuhan, China (even attending the same school!), but didn’t meet each other until they lived in Canada. “We were destined to sit beside each other at 2017’s Mid-Autumn Festival at a hot pot restaurant in Richmond Hill,” shares the bride.
The festival is known in East Asian culture as a symbol of reunion. Since they met each other on that date, it felt like destiny!
Michael proposed on a frosty Valentine’s Day in 2020. He selected the beautiful waterfront by Ontario Place to pop the question to Angela because of a light show that was on display that had inspired him.
“A cloud shape sculpture called ‘Thoughts,’ formed by white light and foam gave me the idea,” Michael shares. “I thought the midnight darkness could create a special feeling for the situation, so I asked Angela to visit the light show around 11 pm. When she stood under the art piece, I proposed. It was cold, dark, and tranquil and she was illuminated under the light.”
