We’re never shy of SWOON-WORTHY love stories, and this cross-continental connection is no exception! When bride Aria met groom Geoff at her brother’s wedding in 2017, a friend played cupid to bring the two together under the fireworks! And while they lived thousands of miles apart, Aria in sunny Melbourne and Geoff in drizzly Vancouver, they tied the knot in 2019 over a two-day event honoring their different backgrounds. “Finding ways of bringing the cultures of the two families together was so rewarding; blending the intimacy and personal touches of the vows of a western-style ceremony with the inclusiveness and community atmosphere of the traditional Indian ceremonies did so much to make the experience come alive,” shared the couple.

While visiting Vancouver Aria went in to WellGroomed in and met with Dave, the owner who helped create a wedding gown that was a perfect blend of East and West. The finished gown weighed over 30lbs and was made of rich silks from India, hand-beaded with pearls, glass beads and thousands of Swarovski crystals, accompanied by a custom-made drop veil reaching 15 feet in length, itself encrusted with Swarovski crystals throughout. The gown is the result of over 600 hours of labour — time well-spent!

The couple decided to forgo the idea of a "first look" in order to have the experience of seeing one another for the first time down the aisle, and are so glad they did! Nothing could match the way Geoff felt seeing Aria in her extraordinary dress come down the aisle with her parents, while her grandmother waited to welcome her towards the altar.
