Talk about an orchid overload! For Sydney and Steve’s winter wedding (featured in WedLuxe’s Fall 2020 issue), everything about the celebration was planned around their lucky number, “11,” including the 5:11 pm start time of their ceremony, and  1111 candles used throughout the venue. Mirrored rectangular tables were also decorated with all-white flowers designed in an “S” pattern to add an extra bit of drama. Keep scrolling to see more of this decadent day!

Sydney’s Lee Petra Grebenau gown from Powder featured exquisite floral and pearl embellishments, and a white leather belt. The cape attached to the shoulders of the dress to form a luxurious veil-like train. Wild Theory Floral and Event Design created Sydney’s all-white, phalaenopsis orchid bouquet. The dramatic and contemporary ceremony design featured 10-ft tall mirrors and white orchids, amaryllis, tulip, and hydrangea arrangements by Wild Theory Floral and Event Design, all accented with candles.

With a shared appreciation for champagne and the color black, the couple commissioned Coup Champagne to create fifty custom bottles of bubbly, each with a different quote on them. The couple plan to open the bottles to celebrate special times throughout their lives.

A contemporary design was also achieved at the reception. The head table was a modern interpretation of the classic elements of nature with candlelight for illumination, a spectacular waterfall installation, and cascading florals from metal towers. To achieve the unique backdrop, Dream Party Decor created six custom iron cylinder pieces from which the candles and florals were displayed. Mirrored rectangular tables were decorated with all-white flowers and candles designed in a dramatic “S” pattern. In fact, there were exactly 1111 candles throughout the venue to reference the couple’s lucky number.

Two modern water fountains were added to the front of the couple’s head table and added a unique, sensory experience to the day.
Our favourite moment of our wedding day was our first dance. We had choreographed every step and timed the special moments with fireworks so the pictures turned out awesome. At that moment as we looked around, we really felt the love from all of our family and friends.

- Steve

As the reception got underway, the couple and their wedding party all changed into custom red-soled Nike iD’s for a night of dancing.
