Written In The Stars

One of our favourite love stories from the Fall 2020 Vancouver Edition of WedLuxe magazine – Jessica and Alex’s journey was written in the stars! After noticing the name Alex in the most unexpected places, Jessica knew it was fate when a close friend offered to introduce her to an old classmate by that name. On their first date it was revealed that the two had met and shared a dance years before at a high school celebration and the rest as they say, is history! To celebrate their special day the couple worked closely with Sahar Sarband of Modern Mint Events Inc. to create a ‘lavish Parisian’ themed day. “We wanted the feeling of opulence and extravagance but delivered softly and elegantly so our guests felt they were in a dreamy fairytale,” shares the bride.

During the traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony, the couple shared an intimate moment with the people who had helped raise them, as their elders passed down words of wisdom and blessings. Jessica and Alex’s gowns were handmade in China and featured colors and details representing happiness, fortune and prosperity.

Jessica wore not one but two embellished custom-designed gowns. For the ceremony she donned a mermaid silhouette and deep-v-dress by Galia Lahav and purchased at Bisou Bridal. The second more sparkly creation was by Woná Concept and came with a detachable overskirt.

The most striking detail of the ceremony was the raised aisle leading to the altar. The entry was draped to create a grand entrance for the couple and was lined with florals on clear pillars to create a cloud-like effect. Waiting for them was a 12-ft floral runner atop white custom panelling to add some major drama.

The layout of the reception took planner, Sahar Sarband of Modern Mint Events months to figure out. “I wanted to create something unique that had never been done in that space before, but I also wanted to keep things traditional and classic. To take advantage of the ceiling’s striking height, I incorporated hanging rose petals draped from each chandelier,” shares the planner. To create an intimate space for the couple, Éclat Decor Inc. created another raised white platform for the sweetheart table, complete with a lounge chair, monogram, and more whimsical florals by Tala Florist .
My biggest priority when planning was for our guests to enjoy a luxurious celebration. We wanted all the elements to be elevated and to indulge our guests.
