|Sanaz and Puya first met at a party in March 2003, celebrating Persian New Year with friends. “We spent the night talking and laughing and soon found ourselves overwhelmed with the amount of things we shared with one another in such a short amount of time. Our connection was instantaneous,” recalls Sanaz.
The proposal happened five years later, on August 15, 2008. Puya had tricked Sanaz into thinking he was away on business for the weekend. As she was leaving the house to meet up with friends for a restaurant opening, she found a limo outside waiting for her.
“As the driver opened the door, I was shocked to see Puya with red roses in his hands. At this point it still didn’t sink in. I kept thinking we’re picking up our friends on the way and enjoying a night out on the town, as it was also my birthday weekend. I grabbed my roses from Puya’s hand, and as I went to smell them, I noticed my ring in one of the roses. It was then that Puya got on one knee and proposed. His exact words were, ‘I love you more than life itself…will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?’ I was shocked, stunned, overwhelmed, and excited to say the least. All I could say was ‘yes,’ over and over again, with tears streaming down my face. Aside from our wedding, that night was the happiest and most memorable of my life!”
The wedding day took place on July 2, 2010. The bride—a wedding planner who owns Lux Events— planned her own wedding (of course)!
Sanaz’s custom gown was belted with a crystal-encrusted sash. Puya wore a classic black Hugo Boss suit. The couple saw each other for the first time on their wedding day at Graydon Hall Manor during a private photoshoot with their photographers Anthony Manieri and Mike Caringi of 5ive15ifteen photo co.
From Graydon Hall, the couple traveled in style in a Rolls Royce from Rolls Choice Livery to Bellvue Manor where they were married in a modern Persian ceremony.
Sanaz carried a bouquet of white vendela roses tied together with a sparkly mesh and fastened with a crystal brooch designed by Ryan Longo from Signature Events by RL. The ceremony was filled with special details and symbolism from the bride and groom’s Persian background. An array of eggs, walnuts, almonds, crystallized sugar, honey, sweets and pastries surrounded them as they said their ‘I Do’s’. Guests sat on Ice Chiavari chairs with white cushions from Detailz Chair Couture.
|After the ceremony the guests moved into the dazzling ballroom at Bellvue Manor to find a spectacular scene created by Signature Events by RL and Have a Seat. A seating chart created by Pulp and Pearl Invitations led the guests to the beautifully decorated tables adorned with flowers and crystals set atop soft pink taffeta linen. Silver chargers at each place setting were topped with a small white box filled with decadent truffles for the guests to take home.
Sanaz and Puya sat at an extraordinary sweetheart table at the front of the room on a stage covered with ivory linen and sprinkled with rose petals. A white and ivory gazebo covered the setting. “Sitting under the gazebo and having a crystal chandelier dangle over us, was truly magical,” remembers Sanaz.
The couple celebrated with their guests until the wee hours of the morning and topped off the celebrations with a honeymoon in Mexico at the Secrets Resort Maroma.
