A Nature-Forward Summer Wedding at Woodington Lake

Samantha and Stephen (featured in Issue 35 of WedLuxe Canada), met in 2018 through a shared circle of friends, when a casual night out turned into an impromptu trip to the drive-in and, unexpectedly, the beginning of something lasting. From the start, their connection felt balanced and instinctive, grounded in mutual support and an easy understanding of one another. After five years together, Stephen planned a proposal that unfolded in carefully layered moments. What Samantha believed would be a delayed anniversary celebration led her home after brunch, where candles and rose petals guided her into their living room, transformed with flowers, balloons, and soft light. Following the proposal, immediate family and close friends appeared, marking the first of several surprises. The celebration continued with an outfit change and what seemed like a simple family visit, before a final reveal brought them to a banquet hall filled with both families and their closest friends, waiting to surprise her with a fully planned engagement party. What began as an intimate proposal at home became a full-circle celebration, allowing Samantha and Stephen to mark the moment surrounded by everyone who mattered most.

On July 19, 2025, Samantha and Stephen were married at Woodington Lake Golf Club  in Caledon, Ontario, hosting a summer celebration defined by timeless elegance and modern restraint. The ceremony took place outdoors overlooking the rolling greens of Woodington Lake, with the bride’s cousin officiating—a heartfelt touch that made the moment feel especially intimate. Planned by Knots & Blooms Events, the day was inspired by a desire to create something “different yet classic,” leading the couple to gravitate toward a nature-forward palette anchored in soft greens, white, cream, and gentle neutrals. The aesthetic was thoughtfully brought to life by WILD THEORY FLORAL & EVENT DESIGN Since 1998, Wild Theory Floral and Event Design has been a leading wedding florist in... STRIKE A POSE
Following the ceremony, guests were greeted by a stand-out custom seating chart installation created for Samantha and Stephen by Knots & Blooms Events in collaboration with Decor & Fiesta. Designed as both a functional guide and a visual statement, the sculptural wall featured curved cut-outs, each accented with soft floral moments by Wild Theory Floral & Event Design and paired with clean, modern name plaques. The installation offered an intentional pause between ceremony and celebration, inviting guests to gather, explore, and take in the design, while also doubling as a striking photo backdrop before transitioning into cocktail hour.

We both love the colour green and we really wanted our wedding to be different yet classic.

NATURE-FORWARD
The reception design continued the refined, nature-forward aesthetic, with Wild Theory Floral & Event Design shaping the space through a thoughtful balance of structure and softness.

Together, the florals paired beautifully with the sage green satin linens and patterned cotton linens featuring a subtle greenery motif, bringing a refined yet natural feel to the tablescapes

Samantha and Stephen’s first dance was accompanied by a live piano performance of Can’t Help Falling in Love by Samantha’s maid of honour, adding an intimate and heartfelt touch to the evening.

ENDING ON A SWEET NOTE

As the evening shifted into celebration, the atmosphere felt playful and joyful, drawing guests onto the dance floor. A fun moment came with the wedding cake, a towering sfoglia creation finished with blackberries, blueberries, and cherries to echo the wedding’s palette. In a lighthearted touch, Samantha and Stephen dusted the cake with powdered sugar themselves before serving.

The celebration continued late into the night with personal pizzas served in custom boxes, alongside a concessions-style spread of popcorn and treats. Following the wedding, the newlyweds traveled to Trelawny, Jamaica for their honeymoon, where they focused on slowing down and spending uninterrupted time together after two years of wedding planning.
