TAILORED FOR THE WIN
Claudia embraced a minimalist aesthetic with her first look, a stunning Ines Di Santo gown (Style: Smitten) from the designer’s Yorkville boutique. The gown’s simplicity was elevated with sentimental touches, including custom sleeves made from her mother’s wedding veil. She accessorized with a pearl bracelet gifted by her parents, baby blue Jimmy Choo heels adorned with pearls, and sapphire blue earrings—a gift from her sisters-in-law. Andrew wore a custom black tuxedo for the ceremony, featuring a playful newspaper-print lining that tied into their decor theme. He kept his accessories classic with a Rolex Submariner and custom cufflinks gifted by Hockey Canada.
THE CEREMONY
Claudia and Andrew’s ceremony took place at the iconic St. Michael’s Cathedral in Toronto, a venue rich in history and deeply significant to their families. The grand setting, with its soaring arches and intricate details, provided a timeless backdrop for their vows. The ethereal sounds of the St. Michael’s Boys Choir filled the cathedral, creating a deeply moving atmosphere.
The wedding was a heartfelt reunion of close friends, including many of Andrew’s NHL teammates, past and present, who traveled from around the world to celebrate the couple. A photo session was held at The Louix Louis Grand Bar on the 31st floor of the St. Regis Hotel, which matched their black-and-white colour scheme.
EXTRA! EXTRA!
At the reception, held at the Globe and Mail Centre, every detail reflected the couple’s unique black-and-white “newspaper” theme. The seating chart featured a bold, editorial-style display of each guest’s name and table assignment on one side, while the other side showcased a stunning wall of locally-sourced candles labeled with “No. 88,” Andrew’s jersey number, and given to guests as favors. A life-sized mailbox added a playful and thematic touch as a card box, allowing guests to “mail” their well-wishes and gifts.
NEWSWORTHY DETAILS
The reception was a perfect fusion of modern sophistication and moody romance, designed to captivate guests from the moment they entered. Inspired by the venue’s newspaper legacy, the couple embraced a monochromatic palette of black, white, and sepia tones, with subtle blush accents woven throughout. Creations By Gitta brought the vision to life with minimal yet impactful floral arrangements, paired with an abundance of candlelight that created a dreamy, almost floating effect as the sun set over the city skyline.
RAISE A GLASS
Guests were treated to rousing toasts and a culinary journey, with a focus on Italian-inspired dishes that paid homage to the couple’s heritage.
THE STYLE EDIT
After dinner, Claudia changed into a chic Nadine Merabi jumpsuit (Style: Lucinda), perfect for dancing the night away. Andrew switched into a sparkling royal blue dinner jacket with a whiskey-themed lining, a nod to the couple’s favorite drink.
HEADLINE MOMENTS
The couple made sure the sleek black dance floor was a focal point, with live bongo performances keeping the energy high, enthusiastic dancing, and impromptu crowd surfing. For a touch of fun, a photo booth was strategically placed near the action, allowing guests to easily pop in for playful snapshots before heading back to the dance floor.
