November 2023, Spencer House, London.
Attended by the finest in the UK wedding and event industry, Spencer House was the backdrop for the launch of the By Yevnig 2024 luxury cake and dessert table collection, ‘Renaissance.’ Guests were led on a journey of cake artistry through the state rooms of the majestic Georgian house. The evening was delivered by a powerhouse of an event team under the direction of Emma Westacott of Westacott Weddings & Events with guidance from event and business consultant Milan Thakrar of Work With Milan, with his years of experience working for Historic Royal Palaces. The whole team came together seamlessly bringing their professionalism and expertise to every aspect of the evening.
Guests were delighted with canapés and Champagne from the Spencer House team, creatively designed cocktails from Host Hospitality, to musical entertainment including a harpist, violinist, and delightful ballerinas from Sternberg Clarke who threw the doors open to the Palm Room for guests to behold, ‘Florence,’ the first of the Renaissance collection. And in all rooms, the most impressive floral installations from the incredible Rob Van Helden and team were presented.
‘Florence’, inspired by the ethereal beauty of the Palm Room, captivated all with its opulence. A true marvel that effortlessly captures the grandeur and romance of a bygone era and stands as a beautifully orchestrated symphony of historical and architectural influences. Over seven tiers, expertly iced in ivory and soft-sage green hues, this extraordinary cake is embellished with lavish gilded detailing and bouquets showcasing Yevnig’s fine mastery of sugar craft and unparalleled attention to detail.
As the evening flowed through to the Staircase Hall, the Renaissance By Yevnig logo bathed the wall in glorious light thanks to event production experts, Bespoke Events London, as guests were led upstairs. In the charming Music Room, whimsical music played whilst guests marveled at ‘The Carousel’, an enchanting masterpiece that radiated playful nostalgia inspired by the beauty and charm of a vintage fairground. This extraordinary cake, decorated in a palette of ivory, gold, and soft blue sports a traditional fairground carousel, set delightfully in motion. Sat center stage on a playful table of treats, guests sampled sweet delights of delicate madeleines, biscuits, and bonbons.
Through into the Lady Spencer Room, pausing to watch the wonderful mixologists from Host Hospitality acrobatically making and serving a specially designed cocktail, guests entered the Great Room for the collection finale…
As a breathtaking conclusion to the evening, all were greeted with the most impressive display of grand cakes and a sumptuous dessert table stretching the length of the Great Room. The eye danced across platters of luxurious chocolate truffles, donuts, miniature gift cakes, sweet tartlets, cake pops, drop meringues, macarons, hand-made cookies, bon-bons and more to ‘Princess Grace’ the grand showstopper cake positioned in the door frame to the Painted Room.
Unfolding across a towering ten tiers, each exquisitely covered in luxury ivory fondant, ‘Princess Grace’ is an embodiment of skill and artistry. Delicate floral swags and crests and cascades of vines bear the most delicate of touches, and atop sits an urn of sugar-crafted florals, completing the feminine allure of this truly enchanting cake.
Sitting in each window alcove were three more triumphant cakes. ‘Regalia’ showcased the artist’s extraordinary attention to detail and precision. Over 1000 meticulously hand-sculpted sugar blossoms cascade in swags and crests over eight tiers, culminating in a magnificent floral arrangement crowning the cake. This is an elegant masterpiece crafted for couples desiring the timeless allure of tradition with a modern twist.
In contrast, ‘René’ boasted a playful Bridgertonesque vibrancy with swags of big blooms of sugar-crafted roses colored in an intense magenta tone and finished with hand-sculpted leaves painted in vintage gold. At a grand seven tiers and finished in ivory icing, this romantic masterpiece seamlessly marries the charm of a bygone era with a contemporary flair.
The final cake in this incredible collection, ‘Empress’ draws inspiration from the captivating craftsmanship of Fabergé.
