Talk about a meet-cute! Alyssa of Alyssa & Co Events met her husband, Michael, on a day when she and her sister found themselves in a parking lot on the way to a Toronto Maple Leafs game shaking their heads at a speeding driver. Spoiler alert: the speeding driver was Michael’s brother, who was making sure the four of them could all meet in the elevator! Naturally, when they found out they were all headed to the same place, they continued on to the Air Canada Centre as a group, giving Alyssa and Michael a chance to get to know each other. Needless to say, Alyssa and Michael ended the night by setting a date for the same week, and they’ve been together ever since!
Once engaged, bride-to-be Alyssa set to work planning the couple’s wedding day to mark the third anniversary of their first date, with only one month to spare and everchanging COVID-19 regulations to be mindful of! “The restrictions were changing faster than the weather was, we couldn’t keep up. One thing was for certain though, we were getting married on 10.10.2020,” shares Alyssa.
More from the couple’s beautiful wedding and plein-air inspired reception can be found in the Summer/Fall 2021 Toronto Edition of WedLuxe Magazine.
VIP guests received wedding invitations printed on organic cotton that incorporated a poem of the couple’s love story. The set was enclosed in a linen folio and embellished with natural linen ribbon. Envelopes were hand calligraphed and sealed with custom wax monogram seals.
Michael’s custom formalwear featured hand-sewn lining in Alyssa’s favorite color, purple. The jacket was also embroidered with their wedding date. The couple each had memorial pins made of loved ones who had passed one, including grandparents and a friend. Alyssa carried her pins on her bouquet while Michael wore his pins on the inside of his jacket.
Alyssa and Michael took a private moment just before their reception to read personalized vows that were not said during their traditional catholic ceremony. During their church service, Alyssa received not one, but two wedding bands. One resembles the stones on her mother’s wedding band, while the other resembles her mother-in-law’s wedding band.
The plein-air inspired reception took place inside a tent that was erected on the property. Rattan, wood, and antique brass elements were juxtaposed with floral chandeliers, ample greenery, and twinkling fairy lights.
The personalized love story poem from the invitation was also displayed at the reception on a piece of fabric that swayed in the breeze. The lemon-raspberry flavoured wedding cake featured 3D fondant flowers and foliage, perfectly mirroring the floral design of the event.
