Known for creating some of the most lavish weddings in Phuket and across Thailand, IAMFLOWER spoke exclusively with the WedLuxe Global Trend Report about how they got started in the industry, their design process, and some of their favourite magical, must-visit spots in Thailand!

Thank you for speaking with us! When and how did you get started in the event planning industry?

In 2008, we first collaborated with a hotel and an event planner. At the beginning, not many people knew about us, but as we began to consider Phuket as a destination and think about who our target customer would be, as well as the reputation we wanted to focus on, we decided to focus on serving high-end customers who are looking to host a luxurious, elegant wedding. Since then, we have continued to develop our products and services to become known in the industry for designing some of the most lavish weddings in the world.

How would you describe IAMFLOWER’s signature design style?

Lavish and elegant.

Tell us about trends in your line of work. What trends have been big in 2018?

Free form has been a major trend this year. By that, we mean the style that we create to look as natural as possible, while at the same time causing chills to those who look at it, because of how gorgeous and luxurious it appears. This trend will continue into 2019, as it inspires some of the most memorable weddings.

What is your favourite location within Thailand for weddings?

Phuket is the ultimate location, as it’s next to the beach and features the clear water and blue sky.

Where would be your dream part of the world to produce a wedding?

One day, we would love to produce a wedding in Paris, France – the capital of love!

What is your process when a bride and groom first contact you about planning their wedding?

We always seek to obtain as much information about a couple as possible, so we can get to know what they want and what we can do for them. If the couple doesn’t have any idea about their desired wedding style, we will advise them and assist them with every detail. If they already have a plan in mind, we will create everything to go as planned and bring their dream wedding to life.

What are your favorite florals and color schemes to use when planning a wedding?

For florals, we mostly use roses, peonies, and hydrangea, however, the colour scheme will always depend on the current trends, as well as the desires and preferences of our customers.

What has been your biggest event planning challenge?

For one wedding in Koh Samui, we had a time limit that only allowed for one hour to completely set up all the decor from start to finish! The timing was challenging, but naturally, we completed it on time.

What is the most lavish and luxurious wedding or event you’ve ever worked on?

We once did the decor for a wedding in Phang Nga, for which we only used the most high-end flowers to cover a wall, the floor, and the rooftop. We set up a structure that we hung flowers from to make it flawlessly appear as though the flowers were growing naturally from up high.

What is your favourite wedding that you’ve designed and executed?

The theme of the wedding was “Pure of White with a Little Bit of Green.” The arch we designed was entirely covered with white roses, with additional flowers hanging down to make it look like a waterfall. The aisle was surrounded by floral and candles that were waiting to be lit when the sun went down. Petals were spread all around for the couple to walk down the aisle on.

Where is your favourite place to travel?

We love to visit Switzerland.

What is your favourite part of working in the event planning industry?

Designing an arch and all of the floral structures are usually our favourite elements.

What are the top three destinations or activities you would recommend to someone visiting Thailand for the first time?

First-time visitors must go see Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Bangkok. As for activities, we recommend a visit to the elephant sanctuary, where baby elephants are cared for. It is not a place to ride elephants, but rather a humane place to feed them, play with them, and observe them in their habitat.

Exploring the night market and sampling food from every part of Thailand is a must! It is also important to learn the culture and traditions by visiting local villages and meeting the people of Thailand.

What’s next for IAMFLOWER in 2019?

In 2019, we are launching a new business as a wholesaler for our own florals.
