Spring Bridal Makeup with Victoria Radford: Edgy Bride

In our first beauty blog post with celebrity makeup artist Victoria Radford, she walked us through her steps to achieve the perfect, natural bridal makeup. However, in today’s world, not all brides are interested in the same look. From beachy and boho to high fashion brides, Victoria has seen it all, “I believe in individuality. Just because you are getting married does not mean you have to get your makeup done in a certain way. You should be who you are and look like the best version of yourself, so that when you look back at pictures in the future, you remember how you were at that time of your wedding.”

For this alternative, more rock-and-roll bridal makeup, Radford worked with Martine Forget, star of Hockey Wives and bride-to-be herself, to walk us through how she creates an elevated yet edgy wedding day look.

As a base for this look, Victoria used her Radford foundation in Vanilla Cream. For this, she advises, “you want to buff the product into the skin using a buffer brush. This technique gives skin a velvety finish, while keeping the look effortless.”

Victoria notes that “there isn’t the same emphasis for skin to appear ‘perfected’ with this look.” Instead she focuses more on contouring and highlighting, to really bring out a bride’s bone structure. She loves to contour with the Mineral Sheer bronzer from her own line in Rio de Janeiro, a universally flattering shade that looks great on all skin tones.

“Using a metallic liner is a great way to make your eyes pop without looking overly perfect,” Radford reveals. To give a bit of a rock-and-roll vibe, she used her own waterproof Luxe Cream Liner in Onyx on Martine’s waterline and traced metallic silver eyeshadow (Chanel’s Long Wear Illusion D’Ombre Eyeshadow in Mysterio) along the lash line to keep the look soft yet statement-making. Then, Victoria explains, “we used a small eyeliner brush to trace the Luxe Creme Liner around the natural outline of Martine’s eye to emphasize her lashes.”

For Martine’s cheeks, Victoria kept the look soft with just a whisper of cool pink, using the Radford Baked Blush in Tulip to compliment the silver eye liner. She brushed this only on the apples of Martine’s cheeks to give a healthy glow.

To maintain an edgy yet warm look, Victoria recommends using a nude shade for your lips. “Using a rich, mocha tone of nude keeps this look from looking too cold.” In this look, she used the Waterproof Gel Lip Liner in Ballet and Haute Cocoa Liquid Lipstick from her own line.

As always, it’s important not to forget the transformative power of doing one’s eyebrows. Victoria filled in Martine’s brows with the Radford Brow Tint in Blonde Lites to give a natural, 3D look, before softly pencilling them in using her Radford Precision Brow Pencil in Blonde.

For hair, tousled beach waves compliment this bridal look and keep the “cool-girl” bride feeling like herself, rather than someone playing dress up. To achieve these perfectly imperfect waves, the hair team at Radford keeps the Cloud Nine Waving Wand on hand!

Stay tuned for the third and final blog post in this exclusive series with Victoria Radford, coming in two weeks!
