The months of June and July filled our Instagram feed with society weddings taking place in far flung destinations, from St. Tropez to Normandy and beyond! Filled with breathtaking florals, couture designer gowns, and multi-day celebrations, these are just a few of the society weddings that have inspired us this summer.
Nicky Hilton
Nicky Hilton’s custom high-neck Valentino gown had the internet abuzz earlier this month. She and James Rothschild married at Kensington Palace in London. The bride wore three pairs of custom Louboutin heels throughout the day, and changed into a short, sparkly mini-dress for the reception.
Sabine Ghanem
Famed jewellery designer, Sabine G, and financier Joseph Getty’s wedding in Rome is generally considered the wedding of the summer (so far!) The three day event started with a Dangerous Liasons fancy dress party at Palazzo Taverna. The ceremony held the following day took place at Santi Apostoli church, a basilica that dates back to the sixth century. The bride wore a Schiaparelli couture dress and cape, as well as custom embroidered Charlotte Olympia shoes to match. She accessorized with her own jewellery and TWO custom Olympia Le-Tan clutches, a gift from the designer, while her bridesmaids wore custom Mary Katrantzou. Valerie Mattos
Ultra-stylish Vogue Colombia Editor Valerie Mattos wed Steven Hadjez in a beautiful outdoor celebration in St. Tropez. Another multiple day affair, the bride wore a colourful Emilio Pucci ensemble for the first event, and then donned a custom peach-hued dress and cape by designer Esteban Cortazar for the ceremony and reception the following day. Beatrice Borromeo
Italian aristocrat Beatrice Borromeo wed Pierre Casriaghi, son of Princess Caroline of Monaco (and grandson of Grace Kelly!) in a civil ceremony in Monaco last weekend. The bride wore a summery lilac hued Valentino Couture gown for their civil ceremony, and changed into a second cloud-printed gown by the same designer later in the evening. It is rumoured that their wedding celebrations will take place on the picturesque Italian Borromean Islands, which are owned by Beatrice’s family, tomorrow (August 1st) and that Beatrice will wear Armani Privé for this event.
Hayley Paige
Wedding dress designer Hayley Paige Gutman married Daniel Wallis III earlier this month at the Hyatt Lake Tahoe. Naturally, Hayley designed not one but THREE gowns for her wedding day, as well as a stunning crushed velvet dress for her rehearsal dinner that featured a bejewelled back and neckline. Noor Fares
Lebanese jewellery designer Noor Fares married artist Alexandre Al Khawam in Normandy, France, The three day celebration hosted in mid-June started off with an Arabian Nights themed welcome party, which transformed historic Normandy into a real-life Souk market, complete with dancers and exotic spices for sale. The bride wore a stunning long-sleeve Giambattista Valli Couture gown for the ceremony, which took place in the white wisteria-filled medieval church of Sainte-Catherine in Honfleur.
