Pnina Tornai’s Spring 2015 collection hit the runway at New York’s Bridal Market earlier this month. The gowns continue to demonstrate why Pnina is one of the world’s most celebrated wedding gown designers. We chatted with Pnina during a recent trunk show visit at Kleinfeld Hudson’s Bay and she filled us in on the inspiration behind the collection.
WedLuxe: Can you tell us about your Spring 2015 collection and the inspiration behind it?
Pnina Tornai: Butterflies were a real inspiration and the theme is all about transformation. The gowns have detachable pieces to go from full, ball gowns to more fitted, feminine, body-hugging looks. You can wear the gown with the full skirt to the ceremony for that wow factor and then remove the skirt for the reception so that you are more comfortable.
WL: We also loved the sari-inspired gowns from your 2014 collection, can you tell us more about these pieces?
PT: Lots of Indian brides asked for custom dresses and I thought it would be great to have a few gowns that they could try on when they came to see me. The gowns are more inspired by the traditional sari, you don’t need to wrap them. It’s my take on the sari—a Pnina Sari.
