We recently had the pleasure of chatting with bridal and eveningwear designer Pnina Tornai. The designer, (known for her exquisite gowns that often include a classic corset), was in Toronto to promote the launch of her line at Kleinfeld Hudson’s Bay––the only place in Canada to say ‘yes’ to a Pnina Tornai dress!

How the designer started working with Kleinfeld:
“I knew that I had something special and different that Kleinfeld didn’t have. I sent them a few of my dresses and said if you sell them wonderful and if you don’t just send them back. The dresses sold and the rest is history!”

On the Pnina Tornai bride:
“I would describe the ‘Pnina bride’ as feminine and strong. A bride who loves her body, imperfections and all.”

Wedding gown shopping advice:
“Try to put the stress aside and enjoy the experience! Surround yourself with people who love you and will give you the best advice.”

The most inspiring city the avid traveller has spent time in:
“Every city inspires me in a certain way, but I find New York City to be the most inspiring. It awakens my creativity and just has something about it that no other city has – an electricity that makes you superwoman in whatever you do.”

What’s next for the designer:
“I just released a small collection of sarees in an amazing selection of colours and I would love to do more. I’ve also done some reality television back home* and have really enjoyed that experience.”

*Pnina recently appeared on the Israeli version of MasterChef

We’d love to see more of Pnina Tornai on our television screens in North America, ideally on a “Say Yes to the Dress” Canada edition! You can learn more about the designer and view her collection at Kleinfeld Hudson’s Bay on their website here.
