It was May 2010, while vacationing in Tokyo, Japan that Liza and Basil were walking along the pier overlooking the water. It was there Basil got down on one knee and asked Liza to marry him.

(WedLuxe): How would you describe your wedding day?

(Liza): “Our wedding day was like a pefect crystal and candy filled dream. I felt like a princess and Basil was my prince.”

Was there a specific theme or mood you were trying to to achieve on your wedding day?

“A modern day royal wedding.”

What was your favourite design detail?

“I loved the navy blue wedding cake with a replica french figurine topper of myself and Basil. Camelia flowers cascaded down the front with brushed gold detailing. Not only was it beautiful but it was delicious.”

How did you personalize your wedding day?

“I had a high end japanese candy bar so that guests could enjoy some of my favorite treats from Japan. It also tied in the proposal in the Tokyo.”

What was your favourite moment on the wedding day?

“My favorite moment was dancing into the reception hand in hand with my husband. Everything looked and felt perfect.”

Who was your favourite wedding vendor and why?

“All of my vendors were fantastic and all necessary to make they day as perfect as it was. If I had to choose one I would say it was the Four Seasons Hotel, Toronto. They don’t have the word ‘No’ in their vocabulary. Lina went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I wanted. Although I can be quite demanding, they managed to seemlessly find wines they had never heard of, make sorbet that had never been on the menu and make me feel like I was the only client who mattered.”

Liza wore a Swarovski crystal-covered corset bodice with a full white chiffon skirt and a custom-made birdcage veil with 2 Chanel crystal brooches purchased from Kleinfeld, Manhattan.

Her bouquet consisted of hand-made gold dusted sugar flowers mixed in with white roses.
