Sarah and Joe were married on October 23rd, 2010 a day Sarah had dreamt about since she was a little girl. ‘Our wedding day was a fairy tale, the sun was shining in the morning as we head to the church to make it official. We were surrounded by the most loving family and friends who helped us celebrate from dusk until dawn. I’ve dreamt of my wedding day since I was old enough to know what a wedding was. I wanted something classic, classy and elegant.
THE DRESS: Sarah’s Amsale dress was an ivory strapless tulle A-line gown with a sweetheart neckline and dropped waist. The bodice was tulle, accented with a lilac silk taffeta sash. ‘I added a belt of Swarovski crystals to the sash to really give the dress something extra. My gown was nothing like what I thought I wanted in a wedding dress. As a child I loved tulle because it reminded me of a ballerina’s skirt, and I always wanted to be a world class ballerina. But to have a wedding gown made completly out of tulle, I never thought it would be something I would choose, but I absolutely loved it,’ says Sarah.
THE FLORAL:Sarah wanted the flowers to be very soft and elegant looking. ‘My bridal bouquet consisted of lavender roses, white polo roses and white hydrangea with a touch of chartreuse green. I wanted something full and very soft looking. The bridesmaids bouquets were green and white hydrangea with super green roses and taupe copper beech leaves. They were wrapped in extra fabric from their bridesmaid dresses.’
The bridesmaid’s wore blackberry strapless flat taffeta ball gowns from Pricilla of Boston. ‘Each girl was outfitted with a pearl bracelet and earrings to wear the day of the wedding. This was a thank you gift from Joe and I to the girls.’ says Sarah.
THE DECOR:Sarah adds, ‘We definitely splurged on the decor for the room. We really wanted people to be WOW’d as they entered the reception hall for the first time. The Liberty Grand has a 27 foot ceiling with elaborate chandeliers hanging throughout the space, it really is breath taking. I love candles and I wanted to have as much candle light as possible. With the help of our florist we decided to go with vintage stirling silver candelabras, covered in soft flowers to give the room a very classic and elegant look. The centrepieces were spilling over with purple and mauve roses, white hydrangea in tinted green and taupe copper beech leaves with ivy tendrils cascading down.’
|THE CAKE: The cake theme was also simple and elegant. Since flowers were Sarah’s main focus on her wedding day she wanted to include flowers on the cake as well. ‘The 3rd tier was covered in tiny dark purple, light purple and white flowers keeping with our colour theme. Our cake was a four tier traditional fondant covered cake, the flavours we decided on were white chocolate raspberry, nutella, lemon and banana chocolate chip for the top tier which we will keep to eat on our 1 year anniversary,’ says Sarah.|
Sarah says ‘Growing up I always wanted to be a wedding planner, it never worked out for me but I had a great time working with a professional in Lianne Adelson and took a lot of pride in all the hard work that goes into creating a day like this. I miss it now that it’s over.’
