Real Weddings

True Love, True Luxury: Helen & Neil

        Perfectly Planned

Helen and Neil were married on July 30, 2010 at the Four Seasons Vancouver.

Soha Lavin of CountDown Events helped the couple create the wedding of their dreams. “She is very knowledgeable in what she does. She really helped make our dream wedding come to reality. She knew exactly what we wanted from the start and did not stop until she got us what we wanted. I remember Neil would call Soha up randomly and ask ther for certain requests… we don’t think we have ever heard a no from her mouth. She’s a professional and a sweetheart,” says Helen.

Helen wore three dresses for her wedding day. The first—a traditional Cheongsam worn during the Chinese Tea Ceremony. The second gown was a Romona Keveza from Blush Bridal (worn during the ceremony and photoshoot).

She paired the dress with her ‘something borrowed’—a strand of pearls by Mikimoto, lent to Helen by her sister who had worn the set on her own wedding day.

The third change of the day was a ballgown by Pattis, from Blush Bridal.

Helen wore two pairs of Christian Louboutin heels—both purchased in New York City.

The maid of honour and bridesmaids wore dresses purchased from Frocks boutique. A red sash was added to the dresses to complement their bouquets by Granville Island Florist.

Neil wore a Ermenegildo Zegna suit from Harry Rosen.

       Ceremony Splender

Colin Upright of Upright Decor along with Granville Island Florist, turned the Four Seasons Vancouver into a beautiful peach and white garden room for the couple’s ceremony. The room was draped in sheer white fabric and lit with a wash of white lights. Tall white square pillars lined either side of the aisle and were topped with glass cylindrical vases filled with peach roses, white phalaenopsis orchids, and creamy white hydrangea blooms. At the altar stood a breath-taking gazebo made of the white fabric dripping in orchids, and roses.

“During our planning, we wanted to have different moods throughout the day. We definitely achieved those themes. For our Chinese Tea Ceremony, we wanted it to be very clean and elegant. For our ceremony, we wanted romantic, classic, and elegant. For our cocktail hour, we wanted it to feel very sexy and romantic. When it was the reception, we wanted our guests to be blown away. To be honest, we were blown away. I knew what we were planning to do, but I had no idea it was going to be the way it was. It literally took my breath away.” –Helen

The cocktail hour was themed around romantic and sexy shades of dark red and black. Wintons Social Stationery created paper details like escort cards and signage for hors d’oeuvres. Cocktails flowed from an ice luge sculpture with the couple’s monogram.

        Evening Memories

Guests dined on a delicious four-course meal catered by the Four Seasons Vancouver.

The cake created by Peter Fong of Ganache Patisserie had crystal detailing including the couple’s initials spelled out in crystals on the second tier from the top.

The party continued late into the night with DJ Leanne spinning songs for the couple and their family and friends.

“Our wedding day was a blur. Everything happened so fast, we both didn’t get sleep the night before, so we were very overwhelmed with everythitng. Despite feeling overwhelmed, we couldn’t believe how wonderfully everything turned out.”

The couple honeymooned in London, England and in the Maldives at the Kuda Huraa Resort. They now reside in Vancouver where Helen is a early childhood educator and Neil is a project manager.
