Light Matters

LM1

Juxtaposed against contemporary interpretations of Arabic architecture, here we showcase some of this season’s most statement-making gowns. Pattern and light are explored through mashrabiya, a form of latticework that uses geometric shapes to provide shade, resulting in patterned sunlight where light passes through.

Taking advantage of the summer months, Lisa and Makie held their floral-themed ceremony and reception at Toronto's Eagle Nest Golf Club. Bringing lush gardens indoors, the dining room featured over 500 peonies in centrepieces and a towering floral wall, 300 sweet pea blossoms in the bride's bouquet, and a head table absolutely piled with seasonal blooms and candles.

This Glitterati Style File from our latest issue is filled with gorgeous, white wedding eye candy! Paige Lewis of Paige Lewis Events served as Creative Director/Producer for the shoot that was inspired by the sweet fragrances of flowers and French design. We were particularly smitten with the inventive favor stations featured that include a Provence-themed fragrance bar, a Parisian-style stationery favor cart (filled with oh-so-pretty cards from Anista Designs), and a classic French flower market. From the lace Inbal Dror gown to the lush floral displays, every detail of this Krista Fox Photography captured shoot is Pinterest-worthy perfection!

During the Toronto International Film Festival, Montreal-based jewellery house Ecksand invited WedLuxe to preview their latest GORGEOUS collection. Chief Creative Officer Erica Bianchini walked us through some of her favourite pieces and shared her tips on finding the perfect engagement ring.

WedLuxe: What are your tips for choosing an engagement ring?
Erica Bianchini: It’s important to remember that you’ll be wearing the ring every day for the rest of your life. We really think that engagement rings should reflect a bride and her lifestyle. We focus on the gems and really showing them off so that regardless of the band and setting chosen the jewels will shine.

WL: What sets Ecksand apart from other jewellers?
EB: We ethically source all of our gems and pearls from Canada, Australia, and Tahiti. I also like to think that we create really unique pieces that are more architectural.

We also have a custom service to bridge the gap between people who want that unique engagement ring or band but aren’t going to travel to get it. Our site allows customers to choose the size and colour for the ring but also lets them ask for help from a designer. They can talk everything through and the designer can get a better idea of what type of woman they are designing for.

WL: Are there any engagement pieces in the collection that you’re really excited for?
EB: I love the veiled heart ring (above, left). The main gem is a chocolate diamond and it’s surrounded by micro-pavé diamonds.

We also created stackable rings (top image, left) that fit together like puzzle pieces. You can keep adding more throughout your life for milestones. Everything that is special stays on one finger.

If you are looking for a unique engagement ring, Ecksand will have pop-up shops throughout Canada this fall, starting in Toronto. You can also contact them here.
