Love filled the air on Cassandra and John's special day! Featuring lush white flowers, dramatic cream draping, and crystal chandeliers, this gorgeous wedding was both vintage and modern all at once. Ultimately, the cream and champagne colour scheme made for a timeless and truly elegant setting.

Here comes the beauty! With wedding season fast approaching, we got in touch with Noor Ahmad of Noor Artistry for some steal-worthy makeup and beauty tips to help you achieve a flawless look on your day. Noor also shares advice on finding a makeup artist for your wedding and dishes on beauty items that should be in every bride’s handbag.

WedLuxe: What advice would you give brides looking for a makeup artist for their day?

Noor: I would advise they look for their artist well in advance! Most artists get booked a year prior to the wedding date and sometimes even more. Many wedding planning sites will tell you to book your artist 3-6 months in advance which will only leave you disappointed, as the artist you want to work with may be booked solid.

WedLuxe: What is your philosophy when working with brides?

Noor: We strive for perfection at Noor Artistry, and we refine every detail to make sure our clients' personality and personal style is shown in the final look. During a recommended makeup preview session, brides have the chance to discuss their ideal wedding day look, wedding style, and skin concern. We love seeing the astonishment in our clients' eyes when they see their beauty enhanced on their day!

WedLuxe: What are the top five beauty tips you would give brides-to-be?

Noor:

  1. Take care of your skin! Flawless makeup begins with great skin —use the right cleanser, toner, and moisturizer.
  2. Drink plenty of water to hydrate your skin, especially close to the wedding day when stress runs high.
  3. A lip scrub every week will make your lips smooth and ideal for a lipstick application on your day.
  4. Do not use your face moisturizer under your eyes, as this can lead to a faulty concealer application. Instead, apply an eye cream under your eyes and follow-up with concealer.
  5. Everyone (but especially brides!) should do clay masks on a regular basis. It draws out toxins, improves skin texture, and adds a glow to the skin.

WedLuxe: What beauty items do you think should be in every brides’ handbag on her wedding day?

Noor: A lipstick for touchups, a refreshing mist like rosewater, a mirror, and mints! Who doesn’t love fresh, minty breath?

WedLuxe: Finally, what is the number one mistake you think brides make when it comes to their makeup?

Noor: The number one mistake is when bride’s show us pictures they've found on Instagram or Pinterest and expect that it will look exactly the same on them or that it will look 'natural' after layers of contouring, highlighting, and smoking out the eyes. Every makeup look should be tailored to a client's specific face shape, personal style, and comfort level.
