Over the next two-days, we’ll be sharing Nadia & Sohaib’s ULTRA-LUXE Eastern wedding from our current issue with you — the most extravagant wedding we’ve featured in WedLuxe Magazine to date! The three-day, Toronto celebration features the work of two different all-star teams of wedding professionals who produced three unique, elaborately-designed events.

The wedding kicked-off with a Moroccan-themed mehndi ceremony that was filled with authentic and custom details, including hanging lanterns sourced from around the globe, custom-made poufs that matched the colour palette of the celebration, Moroccan dishes served at market-style food stations, traditional belly dancers and more! One of our favourite design elements was the spectacular stage in the centre of the room that featured scenes of Morocco on a massive LED backdrop and brought everyone’s attention to the bride and groom. If you think day one is incredible, wait until you see day two of the wedding!! We’ll be sharing the Marie Antoinette-inspired event on the blog later today (4:30PM EST).

Priya and Raja were married on June 26, 2010. A very sophisticated wedding that celebrated the rich Indian culture (including a full week of festivities!) in London, Ontario. A fun, bright tropical theme was designed for the reception held at the London Convention Center Ballroom so that guests felt the joy and excitement of the couple on their special day.

Priya travelled to India for an entire month to buy her wedding trousseau – quite an unforgettable experience! Her wedding spanned 8 days, with one to two outfit changes per day for both her and Raja. She wore a total of 11 outfits during the week of the wedding, and each was custom designed and hand stitched. Her favourite outfit of the day was a rich olive green lehenga, completely encrusted with Swarovski crystals from top to bottom. “I felt like an Indian princess when I wore it.” -Priya

She also purchased jewellery and accessories to coordinate with each outfit. Traditional bridal jewellery, including nearly a half a kilogram of solid, 22K gold bangles, earrings, and necklaces. Her great-uncle gave her a beautiful ruby ring to wear during the ceremony, which she matched to her jeweled hair piece.

What was your favourite design detail?
I loved walking down the beautiful palm leaf aisle during the ceremony – it was a unique and beautiful detail that was truly one-of-a-kind. It took hundreds of palm leaves to create a thick carpet of emerald green, and our guests were floored.

My other favourite detail was the orchid canopy that ran the length of the head table. When I snuck into the reception hall before the guests had arrived, I was awe-struck at how beautiful the head table looked, and sitting beneath the thousands of orchids felt like being in a rainforest jungle!

What was the most luxurious aspect of your wedding?
Unknown to me, Raja had provided the servers at the head table with a 1990 Chateau Latour Pauillac; bottles of wine that he had been saving for almost 10 years! Knowing that I am a wine fanatic, Raja’s little detail made our evening truly luxurious and unforgettable. Our dearest friends and family, who comprised our wedding party, were treated to the best wine we have ever had. It was unquestionably one of the highlights of the evening. -Priya

What was your favourite moment on the wedding day?
My favourite moment was Raja’s emotional speech to me, as he listed off the reasons he loved me, during the reception. I was so moved by his beautiful words, that I was literally speechless!! When it was my turn to speak, all I could muster was “ditto.” -Priya
