FIRST MEETING
Jennifer Bernaudo and Michael (Mike) Cammalleri first met at a social gathering through mutual friends in 2006. After six years of dating, Mike—an NHL player for the Calgary Flames—proposed to Jennifer at her favourite Italian restaurant in Calgary. “Michael had rented out the restaurant for the two of us. After an amazing meal and conversation, he bent down on one knee and asked to be my husband,” shares Jennifer.

AN ARTFUL AFFAIR
The couple was married at the ROYAL ONTARIO MUSEUM (ROM) in Toronto on July 27, 2013. Jennifer and Michael chose the ROM as they wanted a non-traditional venue and had been frequent visitors of the museum when they lived in Toronto. “The ROM was the venue I had in my mind since the proposal, but it wasn’t until I walked through the museum in the following September that I absolutely fell in love. It’s a magical place that represents so much history,” says Jennifer.

The wedding was planned by Melissa Andre of MELISSA ANDRE EVENTS INC.

FASHION NOTES
On the morning of the wedding, Jennifer got ready a short stroll away from the venue at the INTERCONTINENTAL TORONTO YORKVILLE. She wore a stunning Vera Wang gown from VERA WANG TORONTO and a gold belt with diamond-like embellishments from HUGO NICHOLSON. Jennifer’s wedding shoes were leopard print pumps by Gianvito Rossi purchased from GEORGE C. She accessorized her dress with vintage pearl drop earrings, three diamond tennis bracelets (gifted to her by the groom on her thirtieth birthday), and two diamond wedding bands that matched her five-carat diamond engagement ring.

Hair stylist Anthony Ingraldi and makeup artist Patrick Rahme completed the bride’s look. Jennifer’s two maid-of-honours wore floor-length, sequin gowns by Badgley Mischka, and her bridesmaids wore champagne-coloured gowns from BCBG. Michael wore a two-toned tux by Pal Zileri from AZZARI FASHIONS LTD. The groom’s hockey rink cufflinks (a nod to his career in sports) were from GREENSHAG.

CEREMONIAL DESIGN
The couple’s ceremony took place in the Rotunda of the Royal Ontario Museum, the ceremonial entrance hall of the museum that features a breathtaking mosaic dome made of Venetian glass.

UNDER A CANOPY
The ceremony took place ‘in-the-round’ with guests seated around Jennifer and Michael on all four sides. The couple recited their vows under a beautiful, square canopy created by NOUS DESIGN GROUP. The canopy was composed of lush, exotic foliage that included monstera, cordyline, and sprengeri greenery.

“The greenery was amazing and almost felt as though we were inside a secret garden party all night,” recalled Jennifer.

A customized Moooi chandelier from CONTEMPORARY FURNITURE RENTALS INC.was hand-painted black and gold to work with the design and was hung from the ceremony structure.

FASHION FORWARD
The ceremony was followed by a stylish reception that was heavily inspired by the Italian fashion house Missoni. Beckee Kavanagh of PAPER & POSTE created the stationery for the event including the seating chart that featured a colourful, Missoni-inspired pattern which was incorporated throughout the wedding decor.

MISSONI MOMENTS
A fashionable lounge area was created with furniture from Contemporary Furniture Rentals Inc. with Missoni pillows placed throughout.

EYE CANDY
Alexandria Pellegrino of CAKE OPERA CO. created the couple’s multi-coloured, six-tiered Missoni-inspired wedding cake and sweets table.

MODERN ROMANCE
Guests were seated at shiny, black plexiglass dining tables that were topped with a runner of hundreds of gold candles placed in perfect rows. “Michael is a very modern person and I edge more on the romantic classic side, so the main focus of our decor was to incorporate both of our styles,” says Jennifer. Suspended arrangements of exotic foliage, similar to the couple’s ceremony structure, were hung over each table and served as floating works of art. DANCE FLOOR DÉCOR provided the stylish, custom chair backs and a dance floor in the signature Missoni zigzag pattern.

DESIGNER DETAIL
Each guest received a beautiful Christian Lacroix journal with a stamped love note from the couple inside.

FASHIONABLE FINALE
OLIVER & BONACINI designed a four-course meal for guests that included a starter of Burrata cheese, cherry tomatoes and melon salad. Guests were also served mouthwatering Italian-style meatball sandwiches and spaghetti for a late night snack. The Sole Power Live band from SOLE POWER PRODUCTIONS kept the dance floor packed the entire night. “Our band was absolutely amazing. We all felt as if we were at a live concert,” shares Jennifer.  SURPRISE SERENADE
At the reception, Michael serenaded Jennifer with a rendition of Frank Sinatra’s song ‘I believe I’m gonna love you.’

“At the time I was completely shocked and overwhelmed but it is still something I talk about almost every day and something I will remember for the rest of my life,” she recalls.

SMILE-WORTHY SERVICE
Guests also enjoyed “Smilebooth,” a fun photo booth service by MANGO STUDIOS. Jennifer and Michael also offered their guests a thoughtful and practical guest valet car service by GATSBY VALET.

Jennifer and Michael commissioned CLOUD NINE CREATIVE to film their entire day. They also asked Cloud Nine to create one of their signature Same-Day-Edits for everyone to watch and enjoy at the reception.

The couple followed their fabulous celebration with a relaxing honeymoon at theONE&ONLY OCEAN CLUB, Bahamas.
