If you're looking for a romantic escape this winter, or are planning your upcoming minimoon and honeymoon,  might we suggest a jaunt to beautiful Cancun, Mexico? Just a four hour flight away from Toronto, located in the heart of Cancun, one of the city's most esteemed outposts is the Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa, whose borders sit right on the beach, taking full advantage of the city’s 20 kilometres of pristine white beaches.

While you can, of course, take to the sand for an afternoon of relaxing (complete with a bar and waitstaff services should you choose to become a member of the Diamond Club), it’s a place of endless opportunities. If you’re adventurous, head seaside for an afternoon of motorized water sports. If you’re looking to redefine relaxation, enjoy yoga classes hosted on the beach. If you’re looking to impress that special someone, customize your trip by adding on one of their specifically designed Romance or Anniversary Packages, both of which include a romantic dinner for two on the beach.

In addition to these beachside activities, the Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa offers endless options for customization with special occasion packages which can include breakfast in bed, celebratory champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and couple’s spa treatments. For those in the pursuit of true romance, upgrade to Hideaway accommodations for increased privacy and access to preferential areas and activities like gourmet dining and cocktails, poolside mixology classes, sunset champagne, and nightly entertainment. With all Hideaway activities open only to adults, this package was designed with Honeymooners in mind. To take it yet another step further and have your celebrations tailored specifically to you, joining the Diamond Club will get you a trained butler to meet nearly any need. With services like luggage packing and unpacking, ironing, laundry pick-up, assistance with reservations, and even party planning services, you can celebrate your special occasions without losing any precious relaxation time.

While your butler is taking care of the technicalities, you and your significant other can head to one of the resort’s 20 restaurants, lounges, and cafés or take a minute (or an hour!) for yourself with an extended spa treatment. With a couples massage and a his-and-her’s hydrotherapy treatment appearing on the Royal Spa’s extensive menu, it won’t be hard to convince your other half to unwind along with you. And considering the diverse list of accommodations and activity options offered by the Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa, convincing them of the entire vacation should be a breeze.

The first wines produced in the Napa Valley provide a striking contradiction to the county's current reputation. There was no Cabernet Sauvignon or Pinot Noir, only fields upon fields of Mission Grapes. Named for the Christian missionaries who cultivated the grapes for ceremonial wine, the first orchards were a haphazard tangle of vines that resulted in each bottle containing an impossible-to-decipher mix of grapes.

More than 200 years later, wine in Napa Valley is a religious experience in a different sense. Having eschewed its literal religious affiliations during the region’s commercial settlement throughout the nineteenth century, there is still a certain reverence around the wine and the wine culture of the northern Californian county.

With nearly 500 wineries dotting the 30-mile long vale, finding the perfect place to host your trip to Napa Valley is a daunting task. As varied as the crops surrounding them, Napa's lodgings can provide the intimacy of a bed and breakfast or the most luxurious boutique spa and hotel experience. If you’re looking to experience the relaxing extravagance of the latter, allow us to help shorten your search by introducing you to Bardessono, California’s only Platinum LEED Certified hotel. A restaurant, spa, and hotel, the Yountville property’s sustainable design boasts large, open concept suites with private patios. Upon request, rooms are transformed into personal massage parlours by a Spa Butler, who can arrange a massage table and draw a candle lit, essential oil-infused bath with a moments notice.

Alongside the spa’s broad offering of luxurious, natural treatments, Bardessono’s Lucy Restaurant and Bar offers a mostly organic, locally-sourced, seasonal menu. Guests can choose to indulge in their meals (prepared using ingredients from Bardessono’s on-site garden) in the modern dining room, the privacy of their own suite, or even poolside.

And while hiding away in an expansive suite and lounging by the pool sounds like a worthy vacation, a stay at Bardessono can only be enhanced by an always changing calendar of activities. The resort keeps it relaxed with weekly wine tasting at Lucy, yoga twice a week, and a fleet of the latest Lexus models, available for guests to test drive. The front desk will happily arrange for you to spend a few hours or even the entire day away from the estate on a guided Napa Valley Bike Tour that winds through wineries.

Offering the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation, you’ll never get restless, whether you’re just dropping in for the weekend or indulging in a full-fledged getaway.

Today we're dreaming of faraway places, of mochi ice cream, cherry blossoms and the bustling city streets of Tokyo. Stay at the Four Seasons Tokyo or the Park Hyatt (of Lost in Translation fame), dine at Alain Ducasse's Beige Tokyo restaurant and visit cherry blossom-filled parks like Shinjuku Gyoen and Sumida Park. Take excursions to Mt. Fuji or Kyoto or even consider a destination wedding in Hiroshima at the award-winning contemporary chapel there, designed by Nikken Space Designs.

For an All-American wedding or relaxing honeymoon, look no further than the Hamptons — the ideal summertime playground located just a few hours from Manhattan. The destination is the prepster's paradise, immediately bringing to mind seersucker print, the Jitney bus and fashions by quintessentially American designers like Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger. Spend your days bicycling through town, picnicking at the beach or shopping at the designer boutique outposts on Main Street, many of which are only open during the summer months. Stay at one of the grand-yet-cozy estates lining the beach (if you're lucky enough to be invited to one!), or at local hotels like Capri Southampton or the ever classic The American Hotel.

We were particularly enamoured by the Hamptons-located wedding designed by Mindy Weiss (with flowers by famed floral stylist Jeff Leatham!) that took place over this past weekend. If you're considering the area for a destination wedding, look at venues recommended by celebrated event planner Marcy Blum  such as Wölffer Estates or Topping Rose House.
